What is the Idaho contraceptive bill?
In April, Idaho Gov. Brad Little signed House Bill 374, which includes language stating that birth control methods including the pill and IUDs, are not considered violations of the state's abortion law, the Idaho Capital Sun previously reported.

Section 18-622 – Idaho State Legislature Effective August 25, 2022.
TITLE 18
CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS
CHAPTER 6
ABORTION AND CONTRACEPTIVES

18-622. DEFENSE OF LIFE ACT. (1) Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, every person who performs or attempts to perform an abortion as defined in this chapter commits the crime of criminal abortion. Criminal abortion shall be a felony punishable by a sentence of imprisonment of no less than two (2) years and no more than five (5) years in prison. The professional license of any health care professional who performs or attempts to perform an abortion or who assists in performing or attempting to perform an abortion in violation of this subsection shall be suspended by the appropriate licensing board for a minimum of six (6) months upon a first offense and shall be permanently revoked upon a subsequent offense.

(2) The following shall not be considered criminal abortions for purposes of subsection (1) of this section:
(a) The abortion was performed or attempted by a physician as defined in this chapter and:
(i) The physician determined, in his good faith medical judgment and based on the facts known to the physician at the time, that the abortion was necessary to prevent the death of the pregnant woman. No abortion shall be deemed necessary to prevent the death of the pregnant woman because the physician believes that the woman may or will take action to harm herself; and
(ii) The physician performed or attempted to perform the abortion in the manner that, in his good faith medical judgment and based on the facts known to the physician at the time, provided the best opportunity for the unborn child to survive, unless, in his good faith medical judgment, termination of the pregnancy in that manner would have posed a greater risk of the death of the pregnant woman. No such greater risk shall be deemed to exist because the physician believes that the woman may or will take action to harm herself; or
(b) The abortion was performed or attempted by a physician as defined in this chapter during the first trimester of pregnancy and:
(i) If the woman is not a minor or subject to a guardianship, then, prior to the performance of the abortion, the woman has reported to a law enforcement agency that she is the victim of an act of rape or incest and provided a copy of such report to the physician who is to perform the abortion. The copy of the report shall remain a confidential part of the woman’s medical record subject to applicable privacy laws; or
(ii) If the woman is a minor or subject to a guardianship, then, prior to the performance of the abortion, the woman or her parent or guardian has reported to a law enforcement agency or child protective services that she is the victim of an act of rape or incest and a copy of such report has been provided to the physician who is to perform the abortion. The copy of the report shall remain a confidential part of the woman’s medical record subject to applicable privacy laws.
(3) If a report concerning an act of rape or incest is made to a law enforcement agency or child protective services pursuant to subsection (2)(b) of this section, then the person who made the report shall, upon request, be entitled to receive a copy of such report within seventy-two (72) hours of the report being made, provided that the report may be redacted as necessary to avoid interference with an investigation.
(4) Medical treatment provided to a pregnant woman by a health care professional as defined in this chapter that results in the accidental death of, or unintentional injury to, the unborn child shall not be a violation of this section.
(5) Nothing in this section shall be construed to subject a pregnant woman on whom any abortion is performed or attempted to any criminal conviction and penalty.

Abortion Laws in Washington | U.S. State Abortion Guides (abortionfinder.org)
No Waiting Period
Many states require a pregnant person to attend a counseling session and then wait for a specified amount of time before returning to the health center for their abortion appointment.

Washington does not require you to attend a counseling session or go through a waiting period before getting an abortion.

Parental Involvement Not Required
Parental involvement is not required in Washington. If you're younger than 18, you can consent to an abortion and do not have to notify your parents.

Legal Until Viability
Abortion in Washington is legal until "viability." Viability is the stage of pregnancy when a fetus has developed enough that it is able to survive outside the uterus with medical help. When it happens depends on how the fetus is developing and can be different for every pregnancy. A health care provider can determine whether a pregnancy has reached viability.

Abortion providers vary in how many weeks into pregnancy they provide services. Check pregnancy stage limits with each abortion provider.

Exceptions that may allow you to get an abortion in Washington after viability (the stage of pregnancy when a fetus has developed enough that it is able to survive outside the uterus with medical help)
  • To save the pregnant person's life
  • To preserve the pregnant person's general health (can include mental health)

USA births up?
While post-Roe / Dobbs abortion legislation reduces abortions when 34 states enacted abortion restrictions, teenagers to mid-twenties females are not getting pregnant as often as before. Some report that family, marriage and children are valued less than careers and friends.

New State Abortion Data Indicate Widespread Travel for Care | Guttmacher Institute
December 7, 2023 Today, the Guttmacher Institute released findings from the latest round of its Monthly Abortion Provision Study. In addition to monthly estimates of the number of facility-based abortions as well as medication abortions provided via telehealth and virtual providers in each state from January through September 2023, the release includes the first comprehensive data measuring the magnitude of interstate travel for abortion after the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade with the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health decision in June 2022. The latest study findings show that nearly one in five abortion patients traveled out of state to obtain abortion care in the first six months of 2023, compared with one in 10 abortion patients during a similar period in 2020.

Biden’s HHS seeks to deprive pregnancy centers of federal funds (pregnancyhelpnews.com)

"Programs that only or primarily provide pregnancy counseling to women only after they become pregnant likely do not meet the reasonable person standard because the connection to preventing and reducing out-of-wedlock pregnancies is tenuous or non-existent, and therefore do not accomplish purpose three. States that provide funding for these types of programs, including through entities sometimes known as crisis pregnancy centers or pregnancy resource centers, must be able to show that the expenditure actually accomplishes the TANF purpose, that prior expenditures by the state or another entity for the same or a substantially similar program or activity actually accomplished the TANF purpose, or that there is academic or other research indicating that the expenditure could reasonably be expected to accomplish the TANF purpose" [emphasis added].

Is the era of the traditional family over in America? Survey suggests yes – Catholic World Report
The Pew Research Center survey of 5,073 U.S. adults took place from April 10–16. Respondents were part of the Pew Center’s American Trends Panel.
The Pew survey showed near-unanimous consensus on one point, with 90% saying that a husband and wife raising children together is “completely acceptable.” At the same time, 40% of Americans are pessimistic about the future of the institution of marriage and the family, compared with 26% who say they are optimistic and 29% who say they are neither.

Politics - On May 2nd, a draft majority option from SCOTUS was unprecedently leaked to the public (something about overturning Roe v Wade). If the justices remain unwavered by public opinion then it is very likely that Roe v. wade will be overturned. This would dissolve the federal stance on abortion law and kick it back to the states, for the people to decide what they want (or something about democractic process). Washington is a very blue state and abortion will remain very available.

One person shared an opinion on this: They believe that the leaked draft opinion from the Supreme Court that would overturn the Roe v. Wade decision is simply a political move to get pro choice people out to vote in the midterm elections. It is important to see it for what it is. The Democratic Party has been spinning out of control with all of their liberal views and they see this as a way to maintain their control of Congress. WE THE PEOPLE cannot let that happen. LIFE is again under attack as are the morals of our Country. More than ever we need to defend life and pray that God does not let that happen!

We will need the continued strong, compassionate support to changing people’s minds/hearts and providing help those in need in Washington state.

Business – Amazon, etc. companies that do or will provide funding for employees to obtain abortions. Amazon will give its employees up to $4,000 a year for travel expenses for elective abortions.

Scientific studies - A study that analyzed 1178 counties in 18 states found that abortion restrictions were associated with a 17% decrease from the median abortion rate. In California, more than two-thirds of women who were denied abortions because of restrictions on late-term procedures carried their pregnancies to term. Studies show that a quarter of low-income women who would get abortions instead gave birth when public insurance no longer covered abortion costs. In Texas, abortion regulations that closed some abortion clinics caused the abortion rate to between 10-20% the following year. Recently, Texas abortions dropped to a minimum of 10% after they passed their heartbeat bill, with other estimates being much higher. Another study suggests repealing Roe v Wade and allowing state to set their own abortion policies would reduce abortions nationally by 6 to 15 percent.

Culture - The Girl Scouts cookie sales go to Planned Parenthood.
GSUSA is the largest member of The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), which advocates directly for abortion and reproductive rights on behalf of its members, who are mostly minors. The website GirlScoutsWhyNot.com chronicles in detail the ties between GSUSA and WAGGGS with links to tax filings, screenshots and other documentation. Additionally, GSUSA sends more than $1 million to WAGGGS every year as dues — which each individual Girl Scout pays through their local troops. Here

Abortion pill reversal - For those seeking to reverse the effects of the abortion pill (also known as a chemical abortion or a medical abortion), the goal is to start the protocol within 24 hours of taking the first abortion pill, mifepristone, or RU-486. However, there have been many successful reversals when treatment was started within 72 hours of taking the first abortion pill. Even if 72 hours have passed, call our hotline 877.558.0333.
